Principal’s Message

Dear Robles Bobcat Families,

As we transition into the month of March, I want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of attendance and punctuality. Each day of school offers valuable learning opportunities, and consistent attendance ensures that your child can fully benefit from our educational programs. Missing even one day a week can significantly impact your child’s academic progress over the course of the school year and throughout their educational journey. If a student misses one day of school per week from kindergarten through 5th grade, they will lose approximately 216 days over those six years, which is 1.2 school years missed.

Please remember that toys, blankets, and personal tablets are not necessary at school. We provide a wide array of manipulatives and learning tools to support your child’s learning experience here at Robles Elementary. Please help us by reviewing with your child and checking their bag in the mornings as these items become a distraction in the classroom to learning.

In preparation for the upcoming AASA testing next month, it’s essential to help your child feel confident and prepared. Encourage regular reading at home and practice math skills to reinforce classroom learning. Your involvement and support make a significant difference in your child’s readiness for these assessments.

March also marks Read Across America, a celebration of reading and literacy. I encourage you to engage with your child by reading together at home. This shared activity not only fosters a love of reading but also strengthens literacy skills that are vital to academic success. Your student has a library book that they can read with you. Additionally, they have reading passages from the nightly homework as well.

Furthermore, please ensure that your child completes their nightly homework assignments. Consistent practice reinforces learning and helps prepare students for classroom activities and assessments. All students have nightly homework that is sent home weekly with students.

Finally, mark your calendars for our student-led parent-teacher conferences scheduled for March 13 and 14. These conferences provide valuable insights into your child’s progress and goals. Reach out to your child’s teacher to schedule a meeting.

We will also be hosting preschool and kindergarten round up on the same dates, March 13 and 14, for incoming kindergarten and preschool students. Returning pk students will have the needed paperwork sent home. This event allows parents to enroll their children and learn more about our programs.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child’s education. Together, we can ensure every student at Robles Elementary reaches their full potential.

Warm regards,

Dustie Gunn
